The hotel is situated a few meters
away from Golden Temple. So the pilgrims can enjoy the beautiful
view and splendor of Golden Temple complex. Being near to Golden
Temple they can visit the Temple to see the ceremony which is
performed every morning and evening to bring 'Sri Guru Granth
Sahib ji' in 'Palki' to the Golden Temple and back to Kotha Sahib.
Daily
Routine at the Golden Temple is as follows:
Opening of the Entrance Doors
The Golden Temple remains open practically the whole day except
for a short interval of four hours during the night-12.00 p.m.
to 4.00 a.m., when the Holy Book, 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji' is
put to rest at 'Kotha Sahib'. The doors of the 'Darshani Deodhi',
which are closed at 11:00 p.m., reopen at 3.00 a.m. When the sanctum
sanctorum remains closed, a few volunteers stay inside for washing
and cleaning the temple, dusting and changing the floor sheets.
The washing is done with milk diluted with water taken from the
'Har-ki-Pauri'. The floor is then wiped with towels. The outer
'parikarma' is also washed with water. While the volunteers perform
this service of cleaning the sanctum sanctorum and the 'parikarma',
non-stop singing of hymns continues outside. One can hear the
hymns either being recited by the Ragi Jathas or sung by the volunteers
all the twenty-four hours in the sacred premises. Also non-stop
reading of the Holy Scripture continues on the upper storey of
the Golden Temple.
